LIPObind is a weight Loss pill (or edible sachet) that is hugely popular in the United Kingdom and has begun to get some attention in the United States. It is one of newest diet fad pills that are sold as a fat binder and appetite suppressant. Some ads also claim that it can help to regulate blood sugar levels. Does LIPObind really work and if so how?

How LIPObind is Supposed to Work

According to the LIPObind website you simply take two LIPObind pills or one sachet after eating and the pills dissolve and then bind with undigested fat making the bound fat too large to then be digested forcing it to be excreted. The site claims that these pills will bind with 27% of the fat you consume. It also claims that their pills turn to gel in your stomach slowing down food digesting and making you feel fuller and therefore reducing appetite.

LIPObind's Ingredients

LIPObind's ingredients consists of cactus extract, providone, silica and calcium hydrogen phosphate. It is these ingredients that are supposed to bind with the fat in undigested food and pass it through your system. The website states that clinical trials show that this product does indeed bind fat and so it does, at least in the guinea pigs and hamsters that were the subjects of this trial. There is however, little proof that this pill will have the same fat binding effect on humans.

What Reviewers Had To Say

Although there seems to be few reviews for this product other than the usual testimonials on the website LIPObind had managed to receive quite a following in the United Kingdom which at least gives the suggestion that this product may do some of what it claims.

However, the Advertising Standards Authority in the United Kingdom forced LIPObind to pull at least one of it's Ads stating that the LIPObind manufacturers made misleading and unproven statements about their products ability to bind fat, suppress appetite or lower blood sugar levels. In addition while the website suggests using their product alone is enough to help one lose weight it seems as though you need to do much more than that including eating a low fat diet and regular exercise.

Conclusion and Concerns

In light of the fact that many of LIPObind's claims are at the very least unproven and that there are few unbiased reviews on which to base a finding of whether or not this product does anything to aid weight loss consumers will be better served finding a product that has at least some decent reviews backing it up. In addition, one should be concerned that The ASA pulled one of this companies advertisements believing it to be fraudulent or at least unproven. There should also be concern about the company's own claim that these pills form a gel like substance in your stomach which slows digestion. It seems like slowing digestion over a period time could result in stomach problems.

LIPObind may well work but, at this time there is simply no evidence showing that it does work or just how well it works.
